For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other:
so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Galatians 5:17
We’ve all heard this:
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
The flesh is not weak in and of itself, but when it is battling,
when we are trying to do what God wants us to do, to obey Him,
to live in the spiritual and not obey the flesh,
when the flesh is strong against the things of God, it is weak
Weak to do what it wants and strong in its own right
Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully,
and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood. Jeremiah 48:10
In other words, don’t worry about the natural mess that might be made when you obey the Lord, let the chips fall where they may,
obey God to the best of your ability
and let Jesus deal with the repercussions,
Be not afraid of the arm of flesh, other mortals
Like the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other,
that’s not too far from the truth, but it happens within us
and the Holy Spirit is the One to whom we are to listen
The ideal is that we are able to let the spiritual side win within us
That takes humility and it takes practice
Learning how bad it feels to displease God
Feeling like you have failed your Savior
Not a good feeling
It doesn’t really matter what our friends say, our loved ones,
God is the One we answer to
The voices of the flesh, the voices from the natural world matter not
What people think is not important,
rather obeying what the Lord asks
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough,
and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62
