Wait on the Lord

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalm 27:14.

So hard to wait
You know God is there
You know He cares
You know He can hear your every thought
The answer may even be on the way
When we ask anything in His name, He will do it
We know what He has done before
and what we have seen Him do
How He has answered prayer,
how He has come through for us
But waiting is so hard
He has His timing
We have ours
His timing is not our timing
He stretches us sometimes
For reasons only He knows
Since He does know best,
how can we argue with that?

When the disciples were in the boat and Jesus was asleep
Their first thought was, Don’t you care about us?
But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.
And they awoke Him and said to Him,
“Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?
” Mark 4:38
Sometimes God has a funny way of showing He cares
Do not despise the discipline of the Lord
That doesn’t mean He is disciplining us
when we have a hindered answer to prayer
It just tells about His character,
that not everything with Jesus is Sunshine and roses
He allows suffering, hardships, illnesses, struggles

His word says He works all things together for good
Jesus does do that
He will do that, even if we have to wait
Even when it seems like He is taking His sweet time,
when it feels like we’re at the end of the list,
or that He’s busy doing more important things

He has heard
He is listening
It is interesting that when Jesus asked,
When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?
He had just told the parable of the lady petitioning the unjust judge
and he finally just wanted to stop her pleading,
so, he gave her what she wanted

Persistence
Persistence with God
Persistence believing God will perform His promises
Allowing yourself to be stretched as far as you can go,
and then, all of a sudden, as it seems, there is the answer!
The answer we waited for as we waited on the Lord
Like a mother who forgets her birth pangs,
and rejoices in the new life that was born
Forgetting all the effort and pain
Similar to answered prayer that increased our faith,
some things are so hard to wait for,
to have faith that God will really work in the situation
Wait, I say, on the Lord

Scriptural References:

My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord;
neither be weary of his correction:
For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:11-12

And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

And he spake a parable unto them to this end,
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God,
neither regarded man:
And there was a widow in that city;
and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself,
Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her,
lest by her continual coming she weary me.
And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
And shall not God avenge his own elect,
which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh,
shall He find faith on the earth?
Luke 18:1-8
