Waiting on God

Waiting on God, being in neutral is tough
That’s where our patience with God has to come in
Patience with God is different
than patience with the other things we wait for,
like the doctor or being in the line at the grocery store
or the patience we are to have with other drivers on the road
We know how we’re supposed to behave in those circumstances
There might be some similarities
Maybe we don’t tell God off or curse or whatever it is we do
that displays our impatience with our experiences in this world

Waiting on God is fully trusting Him,
Letting Him work things out in His time, in His way,
and sometimes even sitting back and not pushing things,
especially not taking things into our own hands

In Genesis, when Abraham and Sarah knew
the Lord was going to bless them with a child,
they took things in their own hands because God was taking too long

God promised Abraham his seed would be like the stars in the sky,
that is, impossible to count
And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth:
so that if a man can number the dust of the earth,
then shall thy seed also be numbered. Genesis 13:16
and again, God said to Abraham:
And he brought him forth abroad, and said,
Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, i
f thou be able to number them:
and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be
. Genesis 15:5
Sarah believed less, so she gave him her handmaid as a wife
so he could have a child with her, not being patient for God’s promise

And he did, Ishmael was born of the flesh

Isaac finally came from Sarah’s barren womb
and he was the son of the promise

Noah had to some time before the flood after he built the ark
The bible mentions how old he was and it seems it was about a year
but if you’re interested in the exact time, it is in Genesis chapters 6-7

David had to wait on God
even after he was anointed by God to be the King
He had to wait until God Himself removed King Saul
Herein we find the beautiful sentiment
where God tells Samuel not to look on his stature
because the Lord looks on the heart:
But the Lord said unto Samuel,
Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the Lord looketh on the heart
. 1 Samuel 16:7

Wait wait wait
Wait with faith, knowing the promises of God are sure,
they are Yes and Amen
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen,
to the glory of God through us
. 2 Corinthians 1:20
If God has given you a promise, be patient with Him,
honor Him by believing He will perform that promise in your life

Sometimes He told His people things that would happen after they died,
like Abraham and that his descendants would be too numerous to count
Abraham surely would not be able to see that promise way back then

Don’t do anything about the situation
until you have direct instructions from the Lord,
it is better to wait
Keep doing what you know to do: praying, fasting,
keeping in the Word of God and anything else you know to do,
while still being patient and waiting on Him to work,
knowing He is going to work all things together for good Romans 8:28

We are encouraged to be anxious for nothing:
Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
. Philippians 4:6-7
Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6:34
