Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

We all have our place in the body of Christ
A place that is designated for us
We are a cell of sorts
And our purpose is His purpose
No one can take that position from us
If we choose not to serve, that is our choice
If we are willing and obedient,
He will give us the strength and wisdom
to carry out our purpose, to use our talents,
and to complete our job
We all have talents and gifts
that He has given us to carry out our purpose, His purpose in us
For as we have many members in one body,
and all members have not the same office:
So we, being many, are one body in Christ,
and every one members one of another.
Having then gifts differing
according to the grace that is given to us,
whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering:
or he that teacheth, on teaching;
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation:
he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity;
he that ruleth, with diligence;
he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:4-8
How do we find our talents and gifts?
In some ways, it is quite easy
Go with what you like, with what you’re good at
See where that takes you
Even before I was a Christian, I liked to write
I wrote many stories and many ideas,
I journaled,
I had a few most excellent writing teachers
God was working
He was developing my talents
Writing is not my only talent, but my favorite one
I have never written as an occupation
For many people, talents seem to be what we may do in the world, as a career
Our spiritual gifts are what Paul talks about
Let’s say your spiritual gifts are combined in your occupation,
which happens, things get intermixed
This is good
Wherever you work, you can use your talents and spiritual gifts
as the Holy Spirit opens the door
Imagine how you can use your gifts
where the Lord has already placed you
or consider ways that you already use them or could use them
It seems the most important aspect of using our talents and spiritual gifts
is the same as with everything as a Christian,
use them as unto the Lord
We are His body and thus can represent Jesus on earth
in the way we are gifted, or talented
That will be most pleasing unto Him
For unto every one that hath shall be given,
and he shall have abundance:
but from him that hath not
shall be taken away even that which he hath.
