What it Means to Fear the Lord

We hear it all the time
We know we’re supposed to fear the Lord
The bible says it is the beginning of wisdom Psalm 111:10
How does it really fit in our lives
and what does it really mean to fear the Lord?

The next time you hear the phrase fear of the Lord,
realize and recognize that He is the Creator of all things, Colossians 1:16-20
To fear the Lord is utmost respect and honor to God,
knowing that He made Heaven and Hell
and the sea and the dry land, Psalm 146:6
that He formed you in your mother’s womb Psalm 139:13
and that His thoughts and ways are higher than ours Isaiah 55:9

Jesus said:
And fear not them which kill the body,
but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him
which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell
. Matthew 10:28
Without that reverence and fear of who He is
and that He sees every deed,
every intention and thought,
as well as hears every word we speak,
we cannot truly understand the fear of the Lord

It will be extremely scary for those
who have ignored Jesus’ call on their lives
when they are before His throne
that they missed the chance to reconcile with Him
and had the chance to live their lives for Him instead of for themselves
If only they had had that same fear while they were living their lives

The once saved, always saved crowd
does not have the capacity to fear the Lord in the same way
They consider themselves safe no matter what they do
They think salvation is Gods choice, not ours
They think that God made good people and bad people
God created humans in His image, with a choice
To believe that God created people to go to Hell
is a lie from the pits of Hell
Hell was not created for man but for the devil and His angels

We choose
and we have an active role in our gift of salvation
Carrying our crosses, not looking back,
not loving the world, forgiving
and many more stipulations Jesus mentioned
Salvation is a gift, not a right

To Fear the Lord means:
Extreme reverence
Realizing that He is God and we are not
that He has the answers and we do not
Our finite minds try to figure things out,
then we become aware of how He sees things
and that brings a humility of reality that He is God
and if we are wise, we will give Him that position in our hearts and minds

it is about humbling ourselves before God because He is God
Honoring, glorifying, giving Him His due position in our lives
Fear God that we may rejoice in His majestic self,
realizing the fullness of who He is
and that we may be filled with much wisdom
for giving Him that position in our lives
You will look at everything in a different way
when God has attained God status in your heart and mind
