Jesus loved the truth as He is the Truth:
And He taketh with him Peter and James and John,
and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
And saith unto them,
My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that,
if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee;
take away this cup from me:
nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. Mark 14:33-36
Loving the Truth means loving God’s word over your ideas
It means you value it more than your own thoughts and imaginations
That you realize you are not God and you don’t call the shots
You realize that you cannot change what has been written, that you don’t comfort others in their sin and that you are humble before His word
Some of the false doctrines around are a lack of loving the truth
They are for itching ears, hearing things that you like instead of the truth,
which is often quite sobering and not always pleasant
Jesus’ flesh did not want to go through the torment
He still wanted to do His Father’s will
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done
We ought to also want to do the Father’s will in spite of our own will
Lay down your lofty thoughts:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
When someone pushes against the truth,
do not help them or comfort them, warn them instead
Those who refuse to love the truth, that is,
those who refuse to humble themselves
and choose their own thoughts and notions about the truth,
will be sent a foul spirit of delusion
That most likely will lead them to Eternal Damnation
Not loving the truth is not something to play with
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
Loving the truth is not to be taken lightly
It’s not human truth, it is The Truth as is written in the Holy Scriptures
The Truth should not be changed, lightened, twisted
We have to love the Truth at face value, realizing that the Word is God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. John 1:1
Always consider God’s Word above your own thoughts and ways
Ask God to help you see things the way He sees them
He will honor that prayer and realize your desire to love the truth
