What is faith?
How do you get it?
Even if you know how to get it, how do you walk in it?
By knowing Him more deeply. John 6:35
What makes one strong in faith? Romans 10:17
The kind that makes mountains move? Mark 11:23
Faith + Love is one answer: “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13:2
The kind that is like a mustard seed?
That grows into a large, fruitful tree.
When Jesus told the disciples about the mustard seed, he also told them about prayer and fasting, which makes you realize that prayer and fasting, if done unto Him, increases faith: “Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:19-21
What type of faith did Jesus says He is looking for? John 2:29
How can we find the faith that pleases God?
The kind of faith that puts His word above what we can see?
It’s not enough to just believe,
the word says the demons believe and tremble James 2:19
I remember when I was a young Christian, I was caught up in the Name it Claim it doctrine. So, I read the scripture, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7&8
I decided to ask God for gas to be able to go from Portland to see my friend in Seattle. I told the Lord many times I was believing Him to fill my tank and on the way there, the needle kept going toward empty and I kept professing my faith. The car lost power on a hill near an exit and I was able to coast to a gas station. God was merciful. I was a bit angry at Him and told Him so. I told Him what His word said and that He let me down because I was believing Him.
“Faith is something I give, it is not something you take.”
That’s all He said. I got it. I also turned away from the false Faith doctrine. We aren’t supposed to order God around. It doesn’t work anyway.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God Romans 10:17
The bible is filled with what the Lord has done already.
