This is not a new promise exactly, but it’s new to me.
I’ve read this story which is also in Luke and Matthew.
I was looking at the story where the Lord fell asleep in the boat and the disciples were afraid and were not happy with Jesus for falling asleep. I’m going to choose to share the story where they told Him, do You not care about us?
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish?
And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another,
What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him? Mark 4:37-41
Jonah had the same experience in the boat, but he wasn’t Jesus, so he got thrown off the boat instead.
God received the glory that time as well.
So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord, and made vows.
Jonah 1:15-16
This story increased my faith recently. Nobody but God can make a story real to you. Otherwise, they are just good stories. This one was opened to me and I realized I am also in the midst of a storm. The sea is raging and the winds are trying to toss the boat all the way over.
God is working. I will watch and see how He calms this storm in my life.
