When you think of what you like best in this world, what is it?
Or, who is it?
Think of the first time you met Jesus, where Jesus was revealed to you.
That was true delight.
Not like anything else in this world.
Not like anything else ever experienced.
Our first love.
Do you still have your first love?
Is He your most important?
The One whom you want to please?
The One whom you still want to follow?
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
Jesus reprimanded some who had lost their first love:
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee,
because thou hast left thy first love. Revelation 2:4
Then, in the next verse, Jesus tells them what He expects:
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent,
and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly,
and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. v5
Jesus wants us to be sold out to Him,
for us to keep our focus and desire toward Him. He is a jealous God.
For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Deuteronomy 4:24
