And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? Luke 18:26
Who then can be saved?
This was a question Jesus’ disciples asked Him
after the rich, young ruler had refused to follow Him
because he didn’t want to give up his Earthly wealth
The scripture in Mark 10:26 says:
And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves,
Who then can be saved?
The disciples could literally not understand how anyone could be saved
after the exchange Jesus had with the Rich, Young Ruler
and after they learned how hard it was for those who trust in riches
to enter the Kingdom of Heaven
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath,
he cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:33
Salvation was in question
Could those who cling to their Earthly accumulations
or any other fleshly attribute be Jesus’ disciple?
He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me:
and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matthew 10:37
Jesus answered the question the disciples had very clearly
Who then can be saved?
And Jesus looking upon them saith,
With men it is impossible, but not with God:
for with God all things are possible. Mark 10:27
