And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Matthew 21:44
We will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10
If we commit our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and accept His gift of Salvation, that is,
repent and choose to take up our cross and follow Him, we are judged at that point,
If we have been reconciled with God and have accepted His blood sacrifice of death and resurrection, we are forgiven, but not yet free from this sinful world,
which is why we need to stay close to Jesus and in intimate fellowship with Him.
To continue in sin is not acceptable.
That means, keeping our lives before Him
and staying in close communion with Him so he can help us live a godly life.
We are to go boldly before His throne of grace
when we bring our misgivings before the Lord Jesus, it is our asking for strength, seeking for His forgiveness when we have failed
and relying on His mercy and not our own endeavors to walk with Him in holiness.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24
Allowing God to search our hearts is part of our duty as Christians.
Walking with Jesus is a process.
We don’t just accept Salvation and then we are perfect at that point.
That is a lie of the enemy.
We become perfect by following His commandments
and gaining understanding of His word and His ways and obeying His voice.
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:17-18
God gives us clues throughout His word that we are to examine our own hearts
with His wisdom, with the fear of the Lord and not just to consider ourselves perfect. He is also the judge of whether or not we are perfect.
I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake,
and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25
God has the power to blot out sins and He has the willingness.
The concern comes when we try to keep things from Him.
We will face God for everything we have done.
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:12
Asking for forgiveness as we walk with Jesus on this Earth is what He desires,
rather to ignore sin and then be judged for the things we have hidden from Him.
If we think He will forget, we are surely mistaken.
His forgiveness and mercy are not to be taken for granted.
When we spend time with Jesus and in His word, being with He who is Holy,
we are bound to see our own misgivings, our own sin.
It will be given through the Holy Spirit who bears witness of The Christ,
whom we follow. This is the same reason David cried out to the Lord,
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
Those things we have allowed Him to judge in us
will be overlooked on Judgment day because He says,
For as the heaven is high above the earth,
so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.
Like as a father pitieth his children,
so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. Psalm 103:11-13
Hiding sin from God is what got Adam and Eve in so much trouble.
That disrupted their relationship with God.
They didn’t want Him to see them and tried to put barriers up to protect themselves.
God made a way so that they could still have fellowship with Him,
but it was not perfected until He sent His son to die for all sin.
He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities;
and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19
God is our ever loving Father who sent His own son to die to destroy sin. .
Sin causes a separation. It will have to be dealt with now or later.
