But woe unto you that are rich!
for ye have received your consolation.
Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger.
Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets. Luke 6:24-26
Jesus spoke of not gathering up treasures on earth
where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break in and steal
He was not simply speaking of the wealthy,
but of anyone who does not trust in Him for everything
As much as we trust in our worldly goods or other treasures,
our position in life, our personalities, our friends, our family,
they may not always be there
Jesus will always be there
Ready to provide
Ready to help for the asking
Even when we don’t ask and even before we ask,
He often provides
He knows what we need
He knows what we need before we know what we need
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Your wealth or other types of riches will not keep you secure
Your stored goods will not sustain you in the day of the Lord
Only Jesus Himself will be your substance
Trusting in Him only will get you through
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:
but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7
It has been prophesied by modern-day prophets
that in these last days that the rich will lose their wealth,
their security
those who have never been hungry may be seeking basic needs
As the planet experiences birth pangs of the Lord’s return,
we would do well to look to the Lord,
to remember that He is our sustenance
He is our wealth
He is the One who knows our needs before we ask
