And when he had consulted with the people,
he appointed singers unto the Lord,
and that should praise the beauty of holiness,
as they went out before the army, and to say,
Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
And when they began to sing and to praise,
the Lord set ambushments
against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir,
which were come against Judah;
and they were smitten. 2 Chronicles 20:21-22
The difficult part of considering worship as a form of spiritual warfare
is that it is not sung to the enemy or against the enemy,
it is sung to the Lord, to lift Him up
There really is no focus on the enemy
in true song worship to the Lord
as you bring your request before the Lord in song
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:32
And now shall mine head be lifted up
above mine enemies round about me:
therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. Psalm 27:6
With this, we are being exhorted to praise
in spite of our difficulties, to focus on the Lord
and sacrifice to the Lord in our troubles
O sing unto the Lord a new song:
sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 96:1
I have noticed anytime I am open, I can sing a new song to the Lord
sometimes in my prayer language, sometimes in English
I think of that scripture just above
Paul said something similar:
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit,
and I will pray with the understanding also:
I will sing with the spirit,
and I will sing with the understanding also. 1 Corinthians 14:15
The Lord has a song for you if you are open, in fact, dozens of songs
that is between you and God how you do this,
but I encourage you to find new songs from Him
Maybe try singing a scripture that you know well, see how it goes
In Exodus 15, you see the song of Moses and the people
and then the song of Miriam:
And Miriam answered them,
Sing ye to the Lord,
for he hath triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. Exodus 15:21
While the enemies were mentioned,
the enemies of the Lord were not the focus,
the works of God were the focus
That should be our worship and prayer focus as well, God,
lifting Him up in every situation, not focusing on the enemy,
there is death there, not life
The Battle of Jericho was won by exalting the Lord Joshua 6
The Ark of the Covenant represented God and His power
The shouts of the people to God
Trumpets were blown to the Lord
The enemy was not the focus,
Praising God was the focus
But I will sing of thy power; yea,
I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning:
for thou hast been my defence
and refuge in the day of my trouble. Psalm 59:16
So when you are doing warfare, fighting against the enemy
do not focus on the enemy
focus on God and what you are asking from Him
to show His mighty power and authority and grace and love
Jesus should always be the focus
Psalm 96
O sing unto the Lord a new song:
sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
Sing unto the Lord, bless his name;
shew forth his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the heathen,
his wonders among all people.
For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised:
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the Lord made the heavens.
Honour and majesty are before him:
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people,
give unto the Lord glory and strength.
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name:
bring an offering, and come into his courts.
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness:
fear before him, all the earth.
Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth:
the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved:
he shall judge the people righteously.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein:
then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
Before the Lord: for he cometh,
for he cometh to judge the earth:
he shall judge the world with righteousness,
and the people with his truth.
