You Reap What You Sow

When I was a little girl, maybe 5 or 6, I lived in an apartment complex and there was a courtyard where the kids would gather and play. There were two girls, one was my friend, who excluded me from their play. This day, they had a comb and they were combing their hair and dancing, saying how pretty they were and how I wasn’t pretty because my hair was not combed with this most special comb. They said they found it at the park. It was colored and appealing. Their mocking song went like this: “We are pretty and you’re not.” I asked them if I could use the comb and they would not let me.

I came home sad and told my mom that they wouldn’t include me and that they also sang their mocking song several times. My mom said I should never use a comb that wasn’t mine or let anyone else use my comb because it might have lice. I didn’t know exactly what that meant.

“Don’t worry, they’ll get their bad back. It always happens.” I never forgot those words my mother spoke, even to this day.

Several days went by and I hadn’t seen the two girls, one of which had been my friend. My mom said she was very sick, so we went to the store and bought her a book. We knocked on her door and her mom answered. Her mom went for a second and came back with her daughter. There was my friend, at the door, ready to receive my gift. To my shock and amazement, she was bald. I gave her her gift and said good-bye. I wanted to talk to her and ask her what happened, but her mom hurried us away.

Back when I was a child, there were no easy ways to rid your head of lice. It was shave it all off and be bald. My mom explained that she had lice and that in order to get rid of those hair bugs, she had to have her head shaved.

“As you sow, so shall you reap”. The word of God is like a law that are just as sure as the law of gravity. It happens. He says: God sends rain on the just and the unjust. (Matthew 5:45)

Some call it Karma, which is a philosophy from another religion. False religions take some things of truth and mix them in to build their beliefs. The truth remains the same, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7
