What do you value the most?
Where is your heart?
Whom do you seek?
Who or what is most important to you?
The treasures of this world fade quickly.
A strand of pearls are lovely and fun to wear.
They can be put away and protected in a safe place.
Maybe a jewelry box.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
The treasures we lay up on Earth will all be destroyed.
The treasures we find in Christ will always be.
The most important treasures in Christ are realizations of Who He is.
Those revelations that permeate our inner person, those treasures about Him that become a part of us.
Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Isaiah 55:6
There are several scriptures that show that Jesus truly is the treasure we are searching for:
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6
Find the fear of the Lord first and foremost and then do not let it go.
Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Proverbs 23:23
How do you buy the truth?
You consider it valuable. You do what it takes to acquire it.
If you do not consider it valuable, you will be lost until you do value it. Maybe forever…
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 tells us to love the truth.
It also tells us what will happen to any of us if we reject the truth:
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
There is no playing with God. If we reject His word, the truth, which is Jesus, we are condemned.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
2 Corinthians 4:7
We are earthen vessels. Seek after the hidden treasure that only those with eyes to see and ears to hear understand.
