Jesus Shuts Doors No Man Can Open

…and Opens Doors No Man Can Shut

This was first written in Isaiah about Jesus:
And the key of the house of David will I lay upon His shoulder;
so He shall open, and none shall shut; and He shall shut,
and none shall open.
Isaiah 22:22

Then, again in Revelation:
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write;
These things saith He that is holy, He that is true,
He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth;
and shutteth, and no man openeth
; Revelation 3:7

Have you ever seen God do that in your life?
He opens doors that seemed impossible?
Maybe a job? A position? A relationship?
A cluster of blessings that you knew were miracles?
It could also be the other way, where doors were shut.
Where things happened to block you from someone or something
that was not best for you, and when you finally saw it in the rearview mirror,
it made sense why God would do that?
Like the path was laid out for you and it was meant for you,
designed for you by Jesus?

Once we hand over our lives to God, He will intervene.
If we are walking in His truth, following His word, He will open and shut doors.
These occur because we are willing to follow His ways.
Nun. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

You might find yourself in situations that you know were ordained by God.
When we are willing to follow Jesus, He will lead us where He wants us to go.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying,
This is the way, walk ye in it,
when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left
. Isaiah 30:21

I’ve seen other people beat against a door that Jesus closed.
I’ve beaten against a door that Jesus has closed.
We all do it, until we realize it is not going to open.
We can get more sensitive to His Spirit and how He is leading us,
as we grow in the Lord and learn to listen to His guidance.
It’s not easy at first, it’s not easy at any time when it is something we wanted,
a blessing we thought we deserved, or a petition we felt we were entitled to.

Walking humbly with our God means we realize and adhere to His guidance.
That guidance that may go against our flesh,
that may seem like we get doors slammed in our faces,
while a different door is being opened that is better for us.

Reconcile to the Lord when He reveals His will,
remaining humble before Him,
knowing that His ways are higher than our ways
and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts
. Isaiah 55:8-9
