Mind over matter. This is where the base of committing to God lays.
We humans have a hard time submitting, some of us more than others,
but even the weakest person has to bow to the Lord Jesus Christ if he or she chooses to follow Him.
That person will still have to submit to Jesus and it will be difficult as it is for all of us
as we strive against the flesh and the world and our own self-righteousness.
The mind over matter that we all function and operate in is ineffective when you are following Christ. However, if you are thinking of putting your flesh to death, the mind over matter concept
could be considered similar to where Jesus said, The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Regardless, no such efforts will be beneficial unless we are seeking Christ’s direction and strength.
Whether you think of this concept or any other, it is all about Jesus. What does Jesus want?
What is He looking for from us and how do we do the most difficult part which is serving Him?
That is submitting to Him when we want to do something else.
This thought came to me this morning when I asked the Lord,
How do people know they know You?
And that thought came because I was reminded of a young man
who is turning his back on the teachings of Christ and is following deception.
Will he be able to get back on track? Or, will Jesus say to him, I never knew you, depart from Me.
Then I thought of Mind Over Matter, which by definition if we are in Christ,
it is that constant submission to His word, to His ways, to His thoughts.
It is a constant state of chosen humility that reminds us we are less than.
We are less than. Without Him, we are absolutely nothing. (see John 15:5)
If we strive to do what He says and we honor His word above all, we are bound to fail.
That is living in Him, in His sanctification and in His redemption.
Without Him as our Savior, we cannot do that successfully and as humans, we will mess up.
That means to keep things before Him, not try to hide or try to make ourselves better,
but look for that hand that He is constantly reaching out to us, to help us walk with Him.
Some Christians believe this is already all figured out.
They believe in the once saved, always saved theology.
That does not line up with scripture and though they have scriptures they have twisted,
people can be saved and walk with Jesus and then turn away.
Some of Man’s Doctrine teaches that people are already determined by God to be saved or not.
It is very dangerous to not fear God.
He can at any time send any one of us to Hell.
You think Jesus was joking when He said,
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause
shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother,
Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say,
Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Matthew 5:22
I knew a Christian who would tear people apart with his words.
He was very angry and full of hatred for some people.
He held grudges, he did not forgive.
He believed in the once saved always saved theology, and other errors.
There was no fear of God. God will not forgive us if we do not forgive.
It doesn’t matter how good we think we are or how saved we think we are, Jesus will not let it pass.
(If you are having trouble forgiving someone, commit that situation to Jesus and He will help you.)
Considering yourself exempt from any of God’s commandments and warnings will not end well.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15
Being forgiven by Jesus is of utmost importance, so forgiveness on our parts is crucial.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5
Cast down those vain imaginations. see 2 Corinthians 10:5
And, yes it is Mind over Matter if your mind is submitted to Christ Jesus.
