Parables and Lessons

Secret sin, the kind that nobody can see, lurking deep inside the heart
It does damage
If it is left to fester, it will cause immeasurable harm

I have had a mouse infestation in my car
I used traps to catch three
There was at least one more
I saw the signs and quickly cleaned it up
But it was still there in my car, eating away at the padding inside the back seats

It was a brilliant mouse
It was able to eat the bait, the cheese or peanut butter I had on the trap
I figured it was small, small enough to not trip the trap
The Lord reminded me the infestation was much like sin
Hidden, but doing damage, causing problems
that can’t be seen with the naked eye

Jesus often taught with parables
Many of us learn with parables, and the worldly people,
who do not seek God’s wisdom, are not able to grasp the meaning,
or they find them foolish
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not;
and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Matthew 12:13
Parables are Jesus’ special language to those who follow Him
Even in the true stories that are recorded in the Bible can be like parables,
they teach us and we are able to learn God’s will from them,
God’s protection, God’s direction, and God’s ways

Cain’s sacrifice was despised by the Lord, but He honored Abel’s:
And in process of time it came to pass,
that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.
And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
 Genesis 4:3-5

Lot’s wife turned to a pillar of salt because of her love for what she left
and Jesus said, Remember Lot’s wife. Luke 17:32

We mustn’t forget to mention Esau and what selling his birthright meant:
And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him:
and he sold his birthright unto Jacob
. Genesis 25:33
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau,
who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright
. Hebrews 12:16

God is a jealous God and He does not want us to serve anyone else,
such as Pharaoh, even though he was a king
God parted the Red Sea to allow the Israelites to escape the oppression
God provided water from the Rock, which represented Christ
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant,
how that all our fathers were under the cloud,
and all passed through the sea;
And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
And did all drink the same spiritual drink:
for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them:
and that Rock was Christ
. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

Noah built an ark
He listened to the Lord and was spared destruction:
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark,
and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of:
The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits,
the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it
. Genesis 6:14-16

Esther was told by Mordecai, perhaps you were born for such a time as this and if you don’t speak up and stand for righteousness,
God will bring deliverance from somewhere else:
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time,
then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise
to the Jews from another place;
but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed:
and who knoweth whether
thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this
? Esther 4:14

Each and every recorded story in the bible has a lesson
Sometimes we don’t get it the first time we read it, or the second,
or even the third, then, a situation might happen in our lives
and the Lord will bring the lesson or parable to remembrance
