Before I walked with Jesus, I met an old lady.
I saw her every day at the bus stop.
She had a glow about her and she happily shared the gospel with everyone she met.
She talked about Jesus all the time. She was very kind and was so excited about what she had found,
she wanted to share it with the world.
Some people might’ve been bothered by her, but I wasn’t.
Sometimes the gospel can get rejected.
You can get so many refusals, people who are not interested.
Some people that don’t want to hear it or who don’t accept what is written in God’s word.
It can wear on you.
You can get tired.
Fast forward many years. of walking with Jesus.
I was out on a special errand.
There is a summer clothing item that I love.
It’s perfect for hot weather and is extremely comfortable.
I try to get a new one every year. I was so happy to find two that I liked this year
and I bought one for my friend as a gift.
While I was in the store, I was telling a few employees how great this item was
and that they should get one because they will love it and they’ll be comfortable and cooler in the heat.
When I was considering my same item and how I was so happy with it that I wanted to share this treasure with as many who would listen to have one too,
It suddenly dawned on me that I could be as excited to share the gospel.
While that goes without being said, after lots of rejections, people can get tired.
We can ask God to give us the fervor and excitement to share Him with people even though they may not accept Him or what we say. We should still try.
I have been thinking about this for a few days.
I remembered that lady and how I should be as exited for the gospel as I was for this clothing item.
It’s not that it’s out of my comfort zone to share the gospel, but I’ve somehow lost the zeal.
The whole scene gave me pause.
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1 Corinthian 9:16
Sharing Jesus Christ to a dying world.
It’s not about us, self included, it’s about Jesus and helping as many people know Him as we can.
He cares about them and so should we.
