Unforgiveness Stems in Pride

Letting things go takes humility
Forgiving an offense is not always easy to do
It is what Jesus asks of us
He said, Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 5:7

I learned how God saw unforgiveness years ago
I was having a conversation about it with a man
who had been treated very badly by his ex-wife
He told me of the offenses she had done
from cheating to lying and everything in between
He was a broken man,
but instead of letting God put the pieces together of his brokenness,
he had chosen to put himself back together with anger and unforgiveness
As long as he is in that state, he will never be healed
God cannot work with a heart
that has chosen to be enraged with hatred and unforgiveness

I believe God tries to get through
to people whose hearts have been hardened by adverse circumstances,
especially when they have been severely hurt
Those who have chosen to hold onto their offenses,
forgetting that God will deal with them and much better than we ever could

Later, I asked the Lord about this situation
and pleaded for the pain that the man had endured
Jesus made it clear to me that no matter what has been done,
He expects us to forgive
Vengeance belongs to Him and Him alone

Who better can repay someone or teach someone than God Himself?

Instead of leaving things in God’s hands
and trusting that He will give to each person according to their deeds,
people do the equivalent of getting up on God’s throne
and refuse to let Jesus be Lord of the situation
Those unforgiving ones judge and condemn
and refuse to place whatever it was in God’s hands

Jesus is very clear in scripture about what happens when we refuse to forgive, none of us is exempt from this, no matter what the circumstances:
For if ye forgive men their trespasses,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15
