Where do your loyalties lie?
For whom are you a champion?
Who will you defend at any cost?
Samson gave the secret away to the enemy who used a beautiful, voluptuous woman to seduce him
and to keep him vexed. He gave in, telling her, who in turn, told his enemies, where he got his great strength.
He knew his strength was from the Lord, but was not able to protect it because of his desires of the flesh.
Samson was used of the Lord to afflict the Philistines.
His relationship with God was solid. He belonged to God and he knew he belonged to God.
The story can be a little confusing as to why he was compelled to desire women of the Philistines.
And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said,
I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines:
now therefore get her for me to wife.
Then his father and his mother said unto him,
Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren,
or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?
And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord,
that he sought an occasion against the Philistines:
for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. Judges 14:1-4
God did this a few other times in the Bible.
He allowed Joseph to be sold into slavery so he could eventually be elevated to save his father’s house.
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day,
to save much people alive. Genesis 50:20
God even orchestrated the events of His own Son:
Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,
ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death:
because it was not possible that He should be holden of it. Acts 2:23-24
He knew the end from the beginning, allowing Jesus to suffer and then die,
so He would rise from the dead. He could not be held down. He fulfilled God’s Eternal purpose.
Many of God’s people throughout the Bible were loyal to God, they obeyed Him above men.
Things happen in our lives or the lives of those we know who serve God.
Sometimes it is perplexing. These are now thought of as Champions of God.
God’s hand is always moving on our lives. If we take the wrong road, but our heart is right,
He will bring us back and show us the way in the event we have lost our way.
We might not always learn the answers or understand the way things turn out.
We can be confident that Jesus will never leave nor forsake us and if we have put our lives in His hands,
He will surely bring us through.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
