And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
Revelation 16:7
People tend not to like the unpleasantries in the Bible, even more so, God’s Judgments, or God forbid we speak of Hell.
The torments of Hell were never created for humans, but for Satan and his angels.
However, many humans will end up there of their own accord.
Some people soften what God says He will do in His word.
We are not to change God’s words or make them sound different than they are. There is a reason they are there.
In Sunday School class we have been studying the book of Ezekiel.
The Pastor, who leads the class says something to the effect of how we have to study the dreariness in Ezekiel
and, like good students, we should take our medicine though it’s tough to swallow.
Except for me. I very much enjoy the Old Testament prophets. The major and the minor prophets.
I appreciate that God said something, warned the people and what He said happened.
Elijah hated the wickedness in Jezebel which she refused to part from.
Elijah prophesied:
And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. 1 Kings 21:23
Here, Elijah’s prophecy of Jezebel was remembered:
And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down:
and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said,
Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.
And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.
Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord,
which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel;
so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel. 2 Kings 9:33-37
There are many such fulfilled prophecies and there are some that will come to pass in our present day.
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
The Bible tells us that what God has said and what He has done. It also has many promises of what is yet to come. God’s word is a powerful reminder of all of God’s promises, of the past and those yet to come.
They increase our faith when we really hear God’s word, when we absorb it.
Hearing His word can also teach us what He has done so we can believe He is able,
even if it might not yet resonate with us.
God doesn’t play.
God is wholly Holy and He will punish sin.
Repentance is the best way to handle sin, bring it before God’s throne, don’t ever hide it from God:
Accept Jesus’ forgiveness and let Him purify your heart.
