But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you;
then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes,
and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them. Numbers 33:55-56
While this was talking about the Israelites claiming the land the Lord promised and gave to them,
there are also metaphors that the Lord might show you about today or about your life specifically.
When I was reading about the Kings, suddenly, it dawned on me (the Holy Spirit, our teacher, of course) that we each also have a domain that the Lord Jesus has given us, no matter how big or how small.
A domain, our own little kingdom, that we are responsible for, that we will be held accountable for how we exercise God’s righteousness over. For some it might be their families, children, maybe they are a matriarch or patriarch. Some rule over many people, an immediate supervisor or a Leader or CEO of a whole company, big or small.
How we obey the Lord in the big and the small is what we will be held accountable for, whatever He has given us responsibility over, even if it’s only our own lives, our phones, what types of idols we allow or disallow in our homes, that we worship, that we serve. Whatever the Lord Jesus has given us, is what He requires of us.
if we look at that scripture again, we might notice that God was telling them to drive our their enemies.
Just one of the many things He commands us. Not to allow our enemies, or in the case of this metaphor is any sort of evil.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17
God’s word bears witness of itself. You will find throughout that the Bible that the Lord does not want us to serve other gods or allow evil in our midst.
He wants us to remain holy and pure in the sanctification of His Son Jesus the Christ.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
And ye shall be holy unto Me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people,
that ye should be Mine. Leviticus 20:26
“…that ye should be Mine…”
